Privacy Policy
FREEDOM Solutions LLC ("we", "us") makes the FREEDOM Precision app. This policy says what the app collects, what stays on your phone, what reaches us, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read.
Effective date: 3 November 2026 Applies to: the FREEDOM Precision iPhone and Apple Watch apps, including beta versions distributed through Apple's TestFlight.
The short version
- Your private shooting logbook is stored on your phone. The timer and the logbook work without an account and without an internet connection.
- The microphone is used to hear your shots. The app does not upload audio recordings to us.
- No GPS or precise location. No advertising. No analytics companies. We do not sell your information.
- Information reaches us when you use a feature that needs it: sending a bug report, signing the beta agreement, signing in to post a run or join a squad. Apple separately collects crash and usage data from beta versions through TestFlight.
What stays on your phone
Your private shooting logbook is stored on your phone: sessions, strings, shot times, the audio recorded while a string runs, your guns and ammunition, drills, targets, and your notes. If you have more than one shooter profile on the phone, each one's records are kept in a separate store.
FREEDOM Precision does not synchronize your logbook to our servers. If you choose to post a run, take part in a squad, or use another online feature, the information that feature needs is sent to our servers, as the table below describes.
You can export a backup file of your logbook from Settings. The export holds your records as text; it does not include audio recordings. Where you send that file is up to you.
The microphone
When you start a string the app listens through the microphone for the beep and for your shots, and it keeps that recording so a shot can be checked or corrected later. The recording may pick up other sounds, including people talking nearby.
The app processes shot-detection audio on your phone and does not upload audio recordings to us or to our servers. Recordings stored on your phone may be included in your phone's own backups (iCloud Backup, or a backup to a computer), depending on your device settings.
The app shows a live level meter while it is listening, and iOS shows its own microphone indicator. You are responsible for where you use it: some places, including Washington, require everyone's permission before a private conversation is recorded. Your acceptance of the beta agreement does not give that permission on behalf of anyone else.
The Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app uses a watchOS workout session during shooting activity: the high-rate motion sensing it uses to feel recoil is available to apps only inside a workout session, and the session also keeps the app running. If you decline the Health permission, the app falls back to a plain extended runtime session and does without the fast sensors. FREEDOM Precision does not request access to your Health app records and does not transmit heart rate or other Health information to our servers. Apple Watch may independently process workout-related information, such as heart rate, as part of the watchOS system; that information is Apple's and your watch's, and the app never sees it.
What we collect, and when
Apart from Apple's TestFlight collection described below, nothing in this table is collected until you do the thing in the first column.
| When you… | What reaches us | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Send a bug report (take a screenshot in the app and tap send) | The screenshot, the category you pick, any note you type, the app build, the shot-detection version, the audio route (speaker, headphones), your iPhone model and iOS version, and a line saying which screen was open. If you are signed in, your account identifier. | To find and fix the problem. |
| Sign the beta tester agreement | Your typed full legal name, the time and your time zone, the agreement version and a fingerprint of its exact text, the app build, your iPhone model and iOS version, a random identifier for the installation, and your account identifier if you are signed in. Our server adds the time it received it. The signing itself works offline; the record is sent when the phone next has a connection. | To keep a record that you signed, and of what. |
| Sign in with Apple | The identifier Apple gives us for your account, and a token from Apple that we keep encrypted so we can tell Apple to end the sign-in when you delete your account. We do not ask Apple for your name or email address. | To give you an account for the features below, and to revoke it properly when you leave. |
| Post a run to a board | The drill, your shot times and total, how the run was verified, whether it is visible to everyone or to your squad, and your hits, misses, points and penalties if you scored it, with the display name you set. The app tells you who will see a run before you post it. | To show the run on the board you chose. |
| Create or join a squad, send a challenge, react to a run, race a friend | The squad, invitation, challenge, reaction or match message itself, tied to your account. | To run the feature. |
| Turn on callout notifications | A push token for your phone. | So Apple can deliver the notification. |
Through Apple's TestFlight
If you use a beta version through TestFlight, Apple collects crash logs and usage data about the app and makes them available to us; you cannot opt out of that while testing. Apple may also provide us with the name and email address you were invited with, your device details, and any feedback you submit through TestFlight itself. Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy notice govern that collection. We use crash logs to fix crashes and feedback to improve the app.
Connections
When the app talks to our servers, our hosting provider's logs record connection details such as your IP address for a short time, as web services generally do. We do not use them to track you.
What we do not collect
Your GPS or precise location. Advertising identifiers. Analytics from third-party services. Serial numbers of firearms. Your home address. Health app records (see "The Apple Watch" above).
Where it is kept and who can see it
Information that reaches us is stored with Supabase, a hosting provider, in the United States (AWS us-west-2, Oregon). Access is controlled on the server:
- A bug report or a signed agreement can be added from a phone but not read back by any phone, including the one that sent it. We read them.
- Your display name, and any gear you chose to show on boards, can be seen by anyone using the app; boards need names. Gear starts hidden.
- Runs posted to a public board can be seen by anyone using the app. Runs, challenges, weekly results and reactions posted to a squad, and the squad's member list, can be seen by that squad's members. A race shares its messages between the two people in it.
- A signed-in account can see its own account data. The server's rules allow nothing beyond the above to be read from a phone.
We do not sell your personal information or disclose it to third parties for their own advertising or marketing. Information you choose to post publicly or share with a squad is visible to the audience you select. We use service providers to operate the app (Supabase for the database, Apple for TestFlight and push notifications), and we disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
| What | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Bug-report screenshots | Removed 30 days after we have dealt with the report. |
| Bug-report notes and diagnostics | Removed two years after we have dealt with the report. |
| Beta agreement signatures | Generally six years after the beta program ends (the date we close it for everyone), unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for an existing legal claim, legal obligation, or litigation hold. |
| Account, posted runs, squads, reactions, push token, the encrypted Apple token | Until you delete your account. When you delete it, we ask Apple to end the sign-in first; if that cannot be done at that moment, you can also remove the app under Settings, your name, Sign in with Apple on your iPhone. |
| Apple's TestFlight crash and usage data | Per Apple's terms. |
| Our hosting provider's connection logs | Per the provider's short-term log retention. |
Your choices
- Use the app without an account. The timer, the logbook, and everything on your phone work without signing in.
- Delete your account from Settings. That removes from our server your account, the runs you posted, your squad memberships, your callouts and reactions, and your push token. Squads you created carry on without you. Your records on your phone are untouched. Certain records, including signed beta agreements and submitted bug reports, remain after account deletion for the retention periods above with their link to your account removed; they may still contain information identifying you, such as the name you typed when you signed. Deletion takes effect on our server at once; copies may persist for a short time in our provider's backups, and information you posted that others have already seen cannot be recalled from them.
- Delete the app, which removes everything the app stored on the phone. It does not remove backup files you exported, copies of them you gave to others, or your phone's own backups.
- Ask us anything about your information, or ask for a copy or for deletion of what we hold, at info@freedomprecision.app. We will answer within 30 days.
Children
The app is not for anyone under 13, and the beta is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be at the same address with a new effective date, and the app will tell you the next time it matters.
